ETEC 590 - Graduating Project
Final Reflection:
ETEC 590 and my ePortfolio project has given me a chance to reflect on all of my accomplishments I have made during my MET program. Each of these reflections I have covered in detail in my explanation of each course. In general I need to say that the process of going through the MET program has been instrumental in many ways throughout my career. Many of the ideas and theories that I have learned I have implemented into my classroom. I am giving seminars and leading discussions on technology, teaching my peers many of the ideas that I have learned. For example I have taught the socials studies department the idea of using a game called Democracy 3 as a part of their curriculum. I am also teaching them constructivist principles on how to assess based on this game. This is an example of my application of knowledge that I have learned from the MET program.
Another key point that I have learned from the MET program is that I am now much more discerning about the technology that I introduce into my classroom. Now I first look at how I can improve learning, and then I look if technology can provide any solution for this. I believe that 21st century learning is also about realizing the benefits and limitations of technology, and being able to use the right tools at the right time. Being grounded in research helps me to determine what are the right tools and why am I having students complete this assignment. I know that the knowledge I have learned from the MET program will benefit me now, and in the future because it ultimately has changed how I think about educational technology.
