ETEC 511 - Foundations of Educational Technology
Economics of Educational Technology:
ETEC 511 was a course that lay the foundation for learning about philosopy, design, ethics, anthropology, history, politics, psychology, economics, ecology and spirituality of educational technology. I decided to use as my artefact for this course the website that I designed for my groups weekly discussion on the economics of Educational Technology. This was important to me as it was my first attempt at trying to integrate some of the ideas that I had learned in my research paper from ETEC 500 about social networking and use that to create a site that demonstrated these principals. As I needed to remove the website due to limited space on my server these images clearly demonstrate the functionality of the site, and the overall response to our weekly discussion. This course was like a seiche wave as it pushed the boundaries of my thinking to include the broader picture of philosophy, design, ethics, anthropology, history, politics, psychology, economics, ecology and spirituality.

This first image shows the site that I created for our weekly discussion. This website used a Joomla platform with an integrated social network system, poll system, quiz system, polls and Kuena forums. The participants could enroll on the site, upload their avatars, create a status, take an interactive quiz and engage in discussions on the forum.
This next image displays the forum that we were operating for the week and the focus questions and responses that it received during this time.
This last image shows how we had a successful online chat where the students were able to come and discuss the topic in detail on our website.
