ETEC 532 - Technology in the Arts and Humanities Classroom
Arts & Humanities:
ETEC 532 was my ninth course in the MET program, and honestly before I started this course I was wondering, with all that I have learned so far in the MET program, whether there was anything really new to learn. As I made my way through the course I realized that in fact I had learned a great deal in this course. Concepts such as technology and the arts, or even the different approach we used for group work like our community inquiry project really had a great impact on me. I made me realize that I should never feel that I have learned everything, and as I finish my MET program that I need to be a life-long learner. There are always new and exciting ways of approaching educational technology and that the MET program was just the start.
ETEC 532 was like a wind wave as there were many new ideas that were created in me, just like wind waves will often comprise of many smaller waves.

For my artefacts for ETEC 532 I decided to include two vignettes that I wrote for this class. The reason I choose these assignments has to do with the peer-editing component. For each of these assignments we needed to write about our topic, and then have a fellow student peer edit our work. After this part of the assignment was finished, a small group of use shared ideas and came up with a summary of all of our key points that we posted to the class forum for a general discussion. The whole process was enlightening as the peer-editing did allow me to refine my vignette. In addition having peers with different perspectives view my work challenged my ideas, and in the end produced a better result. Then these ideas were further refined through the process of creating a summary and viewing other groups perspectives. As this was one of my last courses I have not implemented these ideas into my classroom, but after viewing the effectiveness of this I am sure I will try a modified version in the future.
